Since the age of nine, Avya has been performing on streets, stages and television shows across Aotearoa, honing her craft and throwing herself into discovering her artistic essence.

With a voice that flawlessly commands the full spectrum of musical and emotional expression, 23-year-old Avya pairs this talent with a catalogue of mature, dynamic songs and over a decade's worth of stage experience. The result of this rare combination is a performer that can take an audience with them on a journey through songs that range from energetic, groove-driven pop, sultry R&B and raw, story-driven ballads.  

Avya’s latest single ‘You Don’t Get It’ received nationwide success since its release in November 2022 - rotating on ZM, The Edge, More FM and The Hits and landing her three weeks on the Hot NZ Singles Chart. Meanwhile, her previous singles have been included in curated playlists by Spotify and Apple Music including ’Self Care’’, New Music Daily’, ‘New in Pop’ and ‘New in Singer Songwriter’. 

Since placing fifth in TVNZ's Popstars, she has been a 3-time recipient of NZ On Air funding, opened for artists such as Jeremy Redmore, Georgia Lines, and Jamie McDell and expanded her collection of original material in collaboration with writer and producer Joseph Faris (Ezra Vine, Daily J, Georgia Lines).
